Red Tide Beach Conditions Reporting For Sarasota County

Florida Red Tide and other Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs)

The Beach Conditions Reporting System (www.visitbeaches.org) allows trained beach sentinels to report beach conditions, including the effects resulting from blooms of the harmful algal species, Karenia brevis. Reports of “slight” to “intense” respiratory irritation and some dead fish have been reported throughout Sarasota county beaches today. Slight respiratory irritation was also reported from the Boca Grande range light location. Please visit the BCRS (free smartphone app available through iTunes and Google Play) to make healthy decisions when visiting a Gulf Coast beach.

If you experience effects of red tide, including respiratory irritation (coughing, sneezing, etc.) please help us by reporting through the smartphone application, “CSIC” which is free from Google Play or iTunes stores
