Email To The Scoop: We are looking for anybody that saw a bicyclist get hit on 1/23 on Longboat Pass Bridge
** Allison: I just wanted to clarify for the family’s peace of mind that the cyclist was hit by a sedan and the driver is compliant but the authorities are looking for witnesses who may have seen the accident occur. Thank you**
On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at approximately 3 p.m., our 71-year-old husband and father, Carl Wetzig, was severely injured while riding his bike in the northbound bicycle lane north of the Longboat Pass Bridge (SR 789) near Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach. We are asking help from any persons who were present at or near the time this occurred. We understand that as traffic was stopped on 789, someone opened a car door into the bike path causing Carl’s bike to crash. He suffered severe head trauma and remains in intensive care.
As his family, we are pleading for any witnesses who have knowledge of the event to please contact our attorney, Dan Dannheisser, as soon as possible.
Please call 941-365-7600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you sincerely, Carol and Casey Wetzig
