Help us save the North Jetty Fish Camp (Trolley Nebraska, circa 1922), which has fallen into a state of disrepair

Virginia

As you know, the North Jetty Fish Camp (Trolley Nebraska, circa 1922) is a small piece of old Florida, which is quickly vanishing. It has stood strong in Nokomis, Florida, for more than 70 years, and it is an important part of our community. Since 1946, the North Jetty Fish Camp has been a meeting place for locals and visitors, a place to share, celebrate, reminisce, and sometimes mourn the passing of a loved one. Friends made there often become a second family. The North Jetty Fish Camp is testimony to the enterprising, pioneering spirit of the people of this nation.

In the past few years, the North Jetty Fish Camp has fallen into disrepair. The Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department has neglected to make necessary repairs to the roof. We fear it will suffer the sad fate of demolition. Rumor has it, the County is speeding up the demolition process…like in the next couple of months!

Attached is more information about the North Jetty Fish Camp, which includes its history, newspaper articles and photos.

It is our hope that you will help us in our effort to save the North Jetty Fish Camp. Any guidance you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Heartfelt thanks,

Virginia
