Subject: Proposed Hotel Development 1540 E. Venice Ave, Venice, FL 34292
Dear Mayor Holic –
I am a resident of Venice, at xxxx Gondola Park Dr., Venice, FL 34292. It’s my understanding that the city is considering changing the zoning for the subject property to allow for a 90-bed Hotel, with 135 parking spaces, a restaurant, and a swimming pool. As you know, the proposed site is situated on land designated by the city for use as office, professional, institutional, or retail.
This land is adjacent to my home and other residential communities. The proposed hotel would have a detrimental effect on adjacent residential property values and therefore property taxes revenues, due to the increase in traffic, noise, and crime.
While there is a need for more hotel beds in Venice, this is not the place for it. There are many other spaces in more commercial areas like By-Pass 41, or around the airport, more suiting for a 92-Room Hotel.
Please keep to the original city plan and preserve the subject land to be designated for office, professional, institutional, or retail.
