Thanks. So two months later a letter from the Mayor, not staff to our Administration????
I believe it needs to be clear that your Council has made the redevelopment of this area a priority of yours first; after public notice and debate on how it would work and what exactly the Council’s vision is for the area. Then have an affirmative vote on what the City is willing to commit to before we are asked to step in. As the redevelopment of the Seaboard area has not been identified as a priority of the BCC, (although the idea does have merit), I believe this request by the Mayor is premature. Furthermore, the Mayor’s request contradicts the outcome of our CRA / Increment Financing Workshop from a few months ago, where our Board was clear that we are not interested in using the statutory CRA model for redevelopment. I think you all should clarify what the City Council wants, so it is clear to us that this is a priority of your Council, verses that of one person. Then if a partnership is possible, be mindful of how it can be accomplished without all of the bureaucracy and added costs of a CRA.
Thanks.

An article on Holic’s email, which I shared the other day.
