Sarasota County Schools official release about schools closing until Monday
HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE, 2 p.m., Tuesday, 9/12/17:arasota County schools to reopen Monday, Sept. 18. Superintendent Todd Bowden has announced that all Sarasota County public schools will remain closed the rest of this week and will reopen Monday, Sept. 18.
In recorded messages to parents and district staff, Bowden thanked them for their patience as the district assesses the state of our schools and community after Hurricane Irma. He noted that 14 district schools served as shelters, welcoming almost 19,000 evacuees.These and other campuses have cleanup and maintenance issues. Some schools still do not have power.

PUBLIC HEARING RESCHEDULED: The School Board Public Hearing to adopt the final millage and budget is CANCELED for Tuesday, Sept. 12 and RESCHEDULED for 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19.
