SPD: Sarasota Police Department Volunteers vehicles have a new look!
You may have noticed our Sarasota Police Department Volunteers vehicles have a new look!
Patrol Car 195 was recently refurbished and redesigned to be added to the fleet of vehicles utilized by the Sarasota Police Department’s Citizen Volunteer Program. This Chevy Impala, along with a second vehicle coming in late July, will replace the two current high mileage patrol vehicles in the volunteer fleet.
These vehicles are clearly marked as VOLUNTEER vehicles and have yellow and white service lights for safety purposes only. They are utilized by civilian volunteers who actively patrol neighborhoods, downtown, St. Armand’s Circle, and area parks and beaches. Patrol volunteers serve as an extra set of eyes and ears in the community by calling in and reporting any suspicious or criminal activities. They also help the public by providing resource materials and answering questions.
