The 2018 Valentine’s Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, left the state’s fourth-safest city—and the nation—in disbelief. While it was a heartbreaking reminder that even traditionally low-crime areas aren’t immune to tragedy, we admire how Parkland’s citizens are embracing the future while honoring the seventeen people who perished. Comedian Jimmy Fallon echoed the community’s resolve in his commencement speech to the high school’s graduating class, encouraging students to keep changing the world and saying, “Don’t let anything stop you.”
