In a very short time, Reverend Barry & Funktastic Soul featuring the Hellacious Horns have enjoyed a rocket-ride of success. This super-tight 8-piece funk & soul band has been packing dance floors in SRQ since their very first gig on Halloween of 2013. This high-energy dance band only plays the most popular dance hits by well-loved artists like Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Kool & the Gang, James Brown & more. Yaya Diamond’s award-winning vocals and magnetic stage presence keep the audience spellbound. Reverend Barry belts out Stevie Wonder, James Brown and more on vocals while holding down the groove on the bass. 22-year old virtuoso Chet Gass not only plays lead guitar, keyboards & talk box…but also sings lead, backing vocals and raps. “The Hellacious Horns”, a super-tight 4-piece horn section brings these great songs to life in the way they were meant to be heard. Long 90-120 minute sets, filled with back-to-back medleys of the most popular dance songs has local audiences and area nightclub owners begging for more. In their first year, Funktastic Soul garnished a large, rabid fan base who religiously pack every show at the area’s best live venues, like Beach Club Siesta Key and The 5-O’Clock Club. The band has quickly become a popular choice for private parties & corporate events.
