 I-75 (SR 93) / University Parkway Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)

Sarasota/Bradenton:  Construction Project:

 Temporary intermittent single and double lane closures are in place at night/overnight on northbound and southbound I-75 Sunday, August 13 through Saturday, August 19 between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following morning. Double lane closures begin at 11 p.m. Watch for shifts in traffic.

Temporary intermittent single and double lane closures are in place at night/overnight on eastbound and westbound University Parkway and at Cooper Creek Blvd./Cattlemen Rd. and at Market St./Lake Osprey Dr. Sunday, August 13 through Saturday, August 19 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. Double lane closures begin at 10 p.m. Watch for shifts in traffic.

 The contractor is installing final friction course and final striping. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway and uneven pavementSpeeding fines double when workers are present.

 Improvements being made as part of this project consist of constructing a diverging diamond interchange, adding an auxiliary lane on northbound and southbound I-75, constructing new bridges on  I-75 over University Parkway, widening of University Parkway, widening of I-75 bridges over Errie Creek and Foley Creek, realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps at I-75/University Parkway, addition of ponds, drainage improvements, new lighting and signalization, construction of a noise wall on the west side of I-75, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. Business US 41 from Palermo Place to Venice Avenue: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing the roadway, constructing new sidewalk and installing new bus pads. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures while crews are working. Estimated completion is summer 2017. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is the contractor.

Business US 41 at the Circus Drawbridge: Construction project: Crews are improving mechanical equipment; painting structural steel; making spall repairs, and replacing portions of sidewalk. Traffic has shifted to one bridge (one lane for each direction) while crews are working on the opposite bridge. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph during construction. Southern Road and Bridge, LLC is the contractor. Expected completion is fall 2017.

US 41 from SR 789 to Ritz Carlton Drive and sidewalk located along the north side of SR 789 from Sunset Drive to US 41: Maintenance permit project: The sidewalk will remain closed until construction of the development located at the corner of US 41 and SR 789 is complete. Pedestrians should follow the established detour.

 US 41/Venice By-Pass from Gulf Coast Boulevard to Bird Bay Drive: Construction project: Crews continue installing utility and storm drain systems and constructing temporary pavement. Expect intermittent nighttime/overnight northbound and southbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. throughout the project limits while crews are working. Motorists should be mindful of the construction signs in place and traffic control officers and use caution while traveling through the project area. Bergeron Land Development is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2018.

 US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street: US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing the roadway; installing new drainage; installing highway lighting, curb and gutter; constructing new sidewalk, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on US 41; US 301; Fruitville Road, and Orange Avenue while crews are working. Crews are constructing a new right turn-lane from northbound US 41 to Fruitville Road. Once constructed, the existing right turn-lane will be closed to traffic. Crews will then construct a pedestrian island and improve drainage. Nighttime/overnight northbound outside lane closures are also expected from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning while crews are working. The right turn lane from Orange Avenue to US 41 will be closed over the upcoming weekend Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13. Motorists should also expect intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures while crews are working. Use caution and expect possible delays. Preferred Materials, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is fall 2017.

 US 41 from Salford Boulevard to Sumter Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are widening US 41 from Salford Boulevard to Sumter Boulevard to a six-lane highway; resurfacing the roadway; improving drainage; constructing sidewalk, and installing highway lighting. Expect daytime lane closures for barrier wall installation within the medians. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. when crews are resurfacing the roadway. Russell Engineering, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2019.

 SR 776/ N. Indiana Avenue south of Tangerine Woods Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a driveway. Expect northbound outside lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, August 25. Use caution and expect possible delays.

SR 758/Bee Ridge Road/Osprey Avenue from Siesta Drive to Dunn Drive: Construction project:  Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures as crews complete miscellaneous finish work in preparation for final layer of asphalt paving.  From Shade Avenue to Beneva Road, traffic is shifted to the outside 2 lanes while crews construct the remaining pedestrian refuge islands.  Please use caution in the areas that are closed for this work and pay close attention to the traffic control devices and barrels. Driving through the traffic control devices and into the work zone is prohibited.  Be aware of slow moving construction equipment and plan additional travel time throughout the project.

                                                                              

The project consists of significant drainage improvements, removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, reconstructing sidewalk, and installing new signalization in some areas.  The project also includes construction of eleven (11) pedestrian refuge islands on Bee Ridge Road between Dunn Drive and US 41. Expected completion of the $17 million project is fall of 2017.

SR 758 at the Siesta Key Drawbridge: Bridge maintenance project: Crews are working on the bridge. Expect nighttime/overnight east and westbound lane closures from 9 p.m. each night to 4 a.m. each morning Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24. Use caution and expect possible delays.

 SR 72 at the Stickney Point Drawbridge: Bridge maintenance project: Crews are working on the bridge. Expect nighttime/overnight westbound outside lane closures from 9 p.m. each night to 4 a.m. each morning Monday, August 28 and Thursday, August 31. Use caution and expect possible delays.
