What a surprise!  The Congressman for parts of Sarasota County (Venice, North Port, Englewood) has a cozy judgeship on the horizon.

 

Politics does have it perks and access to jobs or opportunities that the average folks will never realize.  It always amazes me that politicians will wrap up their career in politics and come up with these Cush jobs, yet nobody ever questions them.

 

I am not stating that Rooney is not qualified, but all to often we see this happen and people just turn a blind eye.

Once U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney wraps up his final term in Washington, he may have a spot waiting on the bench instead.

 

The Palm Beach County Bar Association reports Rooney among the list of applicants for a county court vacancy created by Dana Santino’s removal from the bench in July.

 

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while, trying to prepare for life after Congress,” Rooney told Sunshine State News. “And then a few weeks ago this vacancy came up.”
