Hi, Frankie. That email you received from those residents, Tom and Pat, complaining about the homeless made me want to do something proactive and helpful.
I would like to do a donation drive of “Helping Bags”. Bags filled with blankets, socks, shoes, clean clothes, dry food, and anything else that would be helpful to those in need. Donations can be dropped off to my house in Grand Palm on Saturday July 8th between 11-3pm. Those interested can email me at [email protected].
I will put the bags together and distribute them on July 15th weekend. I could use some volunteers to help.
If your fan base would like to weigh in on where the majority of Venice’s homeless camp out/congregate, that would be helpful. I’m not overly familiar with how many homeless people reside in Venice. I see some from time to time near the Target parking lot, mostly. So, I don’t know how many bags we will need, but I’m think enough to fill 20-30 bags.
I don’t have a non-profit, I’m just someone who wants to help instead of complain. Please post if you see fit. Vanessa Nichols
