Email To The Scoop News - Who is making decisions for the City of Venice???
Residents note concerns with the Venice City Council allowing non-resident and non-City of Venice business owners to sit on the cities committees as non-elected officials. The same committees that do such things as revise the cities comprehensive plan, which is disliked by so many city residents.

Dear City Council,
I read this article at https://www.thescoopradioshow.com/venice-non-residents-and-business-owners-are-allowed-to-sit-on-committees-that-impact-residents-of-the-city/ :
“I am watching the Venice City Council meeting and an interesting point was made, by Councilwoman Anderson.
The city allows individuals that do not live and do not own businesses within the city to sit on committees. Committee’s like the planning committee, that decides the cities comprehensive plan.
Holic stated, well he does visit Venice a lot………….. Suggested that Anderson should move to change the ordinance if it bugs her that much.”
Is this true? If so, it is deeply disturbing and could be the reason that so many decisions being made are not aligned with the views and desires of the permanent residents of Venice. Residents and business owners should be making and influencing decisions made about the City of Venice – NOT visitors.
Please respond and let me know if this is true and what can we do to change it?
Sincerely,
R. DeLance Knight, full time resident
