Email To The Scoop News - I have concerns with the truck vs. house story last Sunday in Sarasota
Anonymous.
I have concerns with the truck vs. house story last Sunday in Sarasota. I just got the police report today, and I discovered they did not do any drug or alcohol testing. This woman was 250 feet from a stop sign in a 25 mph residential neighborhood. Oak Street is completely straight and it was broad daylight. She says that she swerved to avoid hitting a dog- but she took out 2 mailboxes and a small tree before plowing into the house at a 90 degree angle. There were no skid marks- no signs that she tried to brake at all. Not only did the police do no drug or alcohol testing, they were completely unprofessional. They mostly stood around and took pictures on their personal cellphones of the truck. One of them took a selfie with the neighbors on the truck bed. The police report also says she was not distracted. It just doesn’t add up. I think this behavior is at the very least completely unprofessional- and at the worst an endangerment of the lives of Sarasota citizens. This woman (who of course lied about having insurance- she is not covered at all) got away without so much as a ticket as far as I know. Her truck was barely damaged and I’m assuming she is back on the road driving again. She was medically fine and in her 50s. Either she was on her cellphone or she was under the influence- there is no way this could have happened as the police report stated. Frankly, I’m disgusted by the Sarasota Police Department.
It’s unbelievable to me that this woman is still on the roads driving. It is just ridiculous that people like this are able to keep driving.
