Sarasota County Public Works and the FDOT plan on having a draft of the paper work to transfer or swap roads by the end of February.   This is the road swap that will hand over a large portion of River Rd to the FDOT, which will in turn expedite the funding and expansion of the road from 75 to US41.  Also, the agreement will turn Siesta Drive over to the county, which has been vehemently protest by the that is fighting Benderson and his efforts to build the Promenade.

The swap was approved by the county commission earlier this week and the FDOT should approve it by April.   Additionally, the county approved the consent agenda, where North Port will provide $6 million towards a portion of River Rd.

The goal is to have all the approvals and the swap formalized by the end of 2018.
