Is there a problem with bullying at schools within Sarasota County and if so, what can be done about it?
Francesco Abbruzzino, The Scoop News
I posted the thread earlier in the week, which I have posted below. I separated the comments out and posted them on the page, for the individuals that are not on Facebook. There was and still is a lot of attention on that posting and it leaves me wondering if there is a bullying problem within the Sarasota County schools and if the administrators at the schools and school board are turning a blind eye to the different issues.
I know of an issue at a local high school in Sarasota, which I have been told involves three students with that are being bullied by the same child. Nothing is being done about it and the parents do not want to speak up, over fear of their kids not making next year’s prestigious cut to attend the school.
I received this email earlier today, but I have not been able to confirm if the information is accurate.
From Heather
SHS student committed suicide Monday at some point. After being bullied for some time. Haven’t seen anything about it on any news. I think it deserves aome attention. Fits right in with your bullying article from down south
So, is the issue of bullying out of control at schools within Sarasota County? Is there a lot of concern that the schools are not listening to the concerns of parents, when it comes to bullying? What can be done to bring attention to this issue and have the school board take this issue seriously?
Several of the School Board members, the new Superintendent, administrators, ect follow my page and this should get their attention. However, if it does not, you can always email all School Board members: [email protected]

Tracy Damron-Roelle Everything needs to be in an email. First email to the teacher and principal. 24 hours to respond send same email in subject.. Attempt 2 and add the superintendent. Attempt 3 add the school board. Attempt 4 add the state and the media.
Frankly, I’m at the point that I’d just be pressing charges to begin with. Looking at the Educator Code of Ethics and filing complaints.
Enough is enough. Do we need 8 year old victims like they had in Cincinnati? No… JUST NO!
Of bullying dissapear or to victim blame due to liability and federal funding
Tracy Damron-Roelle We’re at Community Christian in Port Charlotte and while it’s taken most of the year, my daughter is starting to love reading again. She does real math. She has REAL TEXTBOOKS. They focused on her positive behavior and largely ignored attention seeking behavior. She’s learned how to work with her over excitabilities. It’s not perfect, but at least she is learning and is starting to like school again. I used to have to pry books out of her hands at night. The district did NOTHING to help her when iReady started causing problems. “It’s part of the curriculum”. It’s not part of curriculum. It’s nothing more than test prep.

Take back our schools and put a stop to this nonsense.
Bullying can lead many times to suicide. Get your daughter in counseling even if you don’t think she needs it. File a police report. File a written letter to everyone up the chain at the school. Send a copy to that child’s parent.
A lawyer can be very very expensive. Even though they may eventually sue them for fees.
Get a solid paper trail now. You may need it later. Talk about your meeting and their inaction. Send them certified.
I hope over the summer the little brat will forget your daughter. I’m sorry she has to go through all this. I know it isn’t easy.
Ellen Klein Posa Horrible. If you contact the Landings and tell them you want to speak with the Superintendent regarding this. Call twice a day for a week. On Friday, call at noon, tell them if you don’t receive a call back within two hours, your lawyer will be getting paperwork ready and you will be filing a police report.
My friend did this. The bully got suspended and had to go to mandatory counseling. The bully now avoids her grandson like the plague.
